What's new in ThinkDesign 2026

Smart Assembly Management
Improved workflows for component management
Performance on large assemblies has taken a significant step forward, with Mating operations now up to 2× faster.
Component management for items with the same name has been simplified: the new conflict resolution dialog provides a more intuitive and consistent experience, with more targeted options and immediate visual feedback to support decision-making. Key enhancements include:
- Smoother handling of automatic component renaming.
- Sharing available only for local components with the same bounding box.
- Enhanced search functionality with visual preview of duplicate components.
Finally, in ThinkTeam it is now possible to open documents in Full Detail mode even when they are archived as Light Representations, providing greater operational flexibility.
Advanced Fillet Capabilities
Improvements to the Edge Fillet command
ThinkDesign 2026 introduces significant enhancements to the "Edge Fillet" command, extending the smarter collision handling introduced in ThinkDesign 2025 to variable radius fillets, further streamlining the design process and minimizing manual adjustments.
Full Hybrid Solids
Mesh support taken to the next level
ThinkDesign 2026 introduces Full Hybrid Solids, BRep solids in which faces can be both parameterized surfaces and triangular meshes.
Core modeling functions, Boolean operations, and analysis tools now work seamlessly with Full Hybrid Solids, while advanced commands such as solid editing, feature creation, construction tools, and collision detection have been fully adapted to handle these complex geometries.
This provides users with a much wider range of workflows, allowing the mesh to become an integral part of the design.
These capabilities are particularly valuable in industries such as automotive design, sporting goods and 3D printing, where a high degree of design flexibility is essential.
2D Graphics
Enhanced 2D graphics performance
ThinkDesign 2026, featuring a fully optimized 2D graphics engine (up to 20x faster than TD 2023), manages multi-viewport support for the Drawing environment.
To provide higher configuration flexibility, users can now define the Preferred Graphics Adapter for 2D Drawings during the initial ThinkDesign setup via the Settings Wizard.
Ansys Workbench v.2026 R1 Support
ThinkDesign 2026 introduces an updated plug-in for Ansys Workbench, providing full compatibility and optimized integration with the v.2026 R1 release for streamlined simulation-driven design.
